Bodyguard: Hijack & Ransom by Chris Bradford

Publication date: Released

Amazon suggested age group: 10 and up

I didn’t know how I would cover these, because there is 2 different editions. A UK, and a US version. The difference? US has 2 books while as the UK has just 1. Why does the UK had 1 while US has 2? The US edition split the UK edition into 2 books, that way it would have more of a Netflix show feel to it. That being said, one edition is not better than the other, or more special. Trust me. Which ever edition you choose to read it will be fine.

Synopsis: At 14 years old, martial arts expert Connor Reeves isn’t you typical bodyguard-that’s why he’s so good at his job.

For his new assignment Connor’s been posted to a luxury yacht. His mission: to protect the twin daughters of an Australian media-mogul. It’s a watertight operation, until the unthinkable happens.

Far out at sea, merciless pirates hijack the yacht and demand a multi-million dollar ransom. But there’s a flaw in their plan.

They didn’t count on Connor Reeves being aboard…

Thoughts/Review: I really enjoy this series. I like how teenagers play such a big role in protection, and because they’re teenagers they easily get over looked or underestimated, and then later they prove that they aren’t your everyday teenager. They are the last line of protection for their principle. They can do much more than everyone expects.

The first book (US edition. About half way through the UK edition) was borderline of boring. It was slow and seem to drag on for me. I couldn’t wait till something-anything happened. It was slow paced, yes. Nothing really happened…until the 2nd book. (US edition. Roughly the last half of the UK edition) The 2nd book was packed with explosions, gunfire and a few close calls! Even though the 2nd book had way more action than the 1st I feel like it was balanced. The 2nd book made up for what the 1st book lacked, and the 1st book gives you what you really didn’t get in the 2nd.

That plot twist I didn’t see coming. I was siding with Connor about who the mole was. I mean, c’mon people. Some random stowaway shows up. How could it not be him? Then my brain decides to take a closer look at this situation.😂🤣 A voice in the back of my head started saying, how could this stowaway be the mole? I wasn’t so sure anymore, but I was still wary of that little stowaway. I was wrong. I was so, so wrong. I didn’t see the twist coming and when I finally found out who the mole was my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe it! Of all the people!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Alpha squad training routine. It’s a unique way to train and very different, but very clever. The training routine is my favorite scene out of the 2 books. I was grinning and laughing by the end of it all.

These are fun books, and a great read. I’m happy I had choose them as my next read. My previous read was amazing! After I got done with it I was like, “What now?”  This was the perfect next read for me.😉

~Till the next chapter~
